Has Spring sprung?

A stunning Wellington day today. Bright blue sky, buds on the trees and birds a tweeting, is Spring on its way? Well I certainly hope so. While it hasn't been the coldest or wettest winter ever, its certainly been winter. In the UK winter is conveniently broken up by Christmas and all the planning and social delights it brings. Winter in the southern hemishere is broken up by......nothing! Except for a two week school holiday. If you are into winter sports then can throw yourself down the slopes of Treble Cone or Mount Ruapehu. I'm not a winter sports fan so I've dug deep and tried pretty hard to get through my first Kiwi winter. "Luckily" I'm working fulltime so that has helped, as has having my extended family just down the road. It has also helped being in a new place and taking the time to seek out new and interesting things to do; for a small capital city Welly has plenty to keep you amused.

So today is the last day of "January" and only "February" to do now and then it really is officially Spring. While it has been a corker of a day I'm sure Wellington winds will blast soon and remind me it is still officially winter. I've also been told that a Wellington Spring is often the most windy of the seasons. Oh help.
