Thank goodness for Charlie & Lola
There is a super Charlie and Lola book called “My wobbly tooth must never ever fall out”. Lola has her first wobbly tooth and doesn’t want it to fall out. After some reassuring chats with big brother Charlie she is happy that her tooth will fall out, as she now knows about the tooth fairy. Well poor Lola actually loses her tooth when it falls out! Poor girl is very distressed then once again her lovely big brother Charlie saves the day. He tells Lola that it doesn’t matter that she can’t put her tooth under the pillow for the tooth fairy. Charlie says to Lola that if she has a happy dream, then she will smile in her sleep and the tooth fairy will see the gap in her teeth and know that she has lost one. So Lola goes to bed that night, dreams happy dreams and must do lots of smiling as in the morning, under her pillow, is a shiny coin.
Well my little Miss has loved this story. When her cousin lost his tooth in the playground and it couldn’t be found, she recited the story to him. Then a few weeks ago, on my birthday, Miss lost her first tooth. I’m pleased to say she wasn’t distressed (I was – I couldn’t keep my babies first tooth….) and calmly said, “that’s OK, I will just have a happy dream so the tooth fairy will see my smiling and spot the gap in my teeth”. We did try and hunt for the tooth but it couldn’t be found. Just to be sure Miss wrote a note to the tooth fairy. It went like this “ Dear Tooth Fairy, You know I lost my tooth. Well it’s at Brown Sugar café. Love from Jessica”
And do you know, the tooth fairy replied. “Thank you Jessica, I found your tooth under a biscuit crumb on the floor at Brown Sugar café. Lots of love, the Tooth Fairy”
