Breaking things
We recently moved house. As we had plenty of time to move out of the old house and into the new one, we took our time and did a couple of carloads over a few days.
I was carrying a box of china & glass out to the car. My precious iPhone was, I thought, secure in my jeans pocket. As I was coming down the steps I felt a “slither” from my jeans pocket. Out of the corner of my eye I could see my iPhone slowly sliding out of my pocket. I had a dilema; drop the box of china and glass or let my iPhone crash onto the tarmac.
Well I decided that a box of china and glass was worth saving. I’ve dropped my phone loads of times and its been OK. So off it went, crashing down the stairs and onto the tarmac. When I picked it up I discovered the screen had cracked and smashed. As it’s a touch screen phone I was devastated. So for the first few days when I was using it I felt as if tiny shards of glass were sticking into my fingers. After a few days of moving stuff into the new house I trotted off to my local phone shop to see what I could do about my poorly iPhone.. Disaster! The only solution is to buy a new phone, as the latest is now 4G and they no longer stock my old version that would be a joyous cost of $1000.
I’ve since been into my local china and glass store and it seems I could have purchased new crockery and glasses for much less than the price of a new iPhone.
So dear reader(s), should you have to make a choice between dropping your phone or a box of china onto a hard floor. Drop the china!!
